Sustainability at Kaufhaus Tyrol

Kaufhaus Tyrol also follows a sustainability strategy. This helps conserve natural resources, reduce CO2 emissions, and minimize negative impacts on the environment.

Clean Up Days

As part of the Patron CleanUP Tour, volunteers collect litter from nature and clean hiking and walking trails.

Sustainability Certificate

Kaufhaus Tyrol achieved the “Very Good” (4 stars) rating in the second and final assessment round according to BREEAM AT Bestand, with an overall fulfillment rate of 62.41%, exceeding our expected result.

E-Parking

Stroll through Kaufhaus Tyrol at your leisure and enjoy the wide range of shops while your electric car charges. On level UG2 of our underground car park, the Elefant Zero charging station is ready for you. Just park in one of the ten spaces and follow the instructions.

Digital Totems

In February 2023, we replaced all traditional poster totems in the building with modern LED screens. You can now easily book the new digital totems programmatically. This is also good for the environment: compared to regular posters, using the displays generates significantly less CO2.

Urban Honey

Since spring 2021, the roof of Kaufhaus Tyrol has been home to eight bee colonies that fly within a three-kilometer radius around Kaufhaus Tyrol and find nectar and pollen almost all year round in the surrounding parks, gardens, green spaces, and balconies. If you're interested in our urban honey, you can contact beekeeper Lukas Schmider directly or simply buy a jar at our Infopoint.

Regenerative & Fossil-Free Energy

Kaufhaus Tyrol heats and cools most of the building for you using regenerative, fossil-free energy. The system is based on water from the Inn river, which supplies our heating and cooling pumps via concrete core cooling. Building the supply line through the city center was a technical and logistical masterpiece for all companies involved. Regulating and continuously optimizing the system also requires special care to ensure it perfectly meets the needs of our tenants and customers.

Green Electricity

Since 2022, Kaufhaus Tyrol has switched completely to 100% green electricity for you. That means: every escalator that takes you up, every lamp that lights your way, and the entire ventilation system in the building run on clean energy from sustainable sources. This way, you can enjoy your shopping break with us with a great feeling and an even smaller ecological footprint.
